Take a break and listen to Poppy Roscoe’s ‘Vacation Forever’, part of their latest dual release “The Devilish Dance”.
‘Vacation Forever’ tells a story of being trapped in a society where work and money come above happiness and passion. It relatably goes into feelings of working for a hated job then gives the earworm, “That would be crazy / I’m not crazy.” To many, it is crazy having to table everything just to survive. Overall, it has an acoustic indie folk rock vibe. But, there’s a dash of punk especially in the vocals and lyricism. The acoustic guitar is intricate but laid-back, and the drums follow a unique pattern. On top of that, the vocals move from soft to strong well, and the vocal harmonies are gorgeous. Everything fits together well in the mix and production.
Los Angeles-based four-piece indie rock band Poppy Roscoe takes psychedelic influences and blends them with melodic rock, on top of dashing in other influences. It was started by Izzy Fortune as an art-rock project in college in 2015, but they came back together in 2023 to release several albums and projects. They capture an audio-visual energy that explores concepts and themes through albums and projects. Everything they release has its own artistic influence to bring to the table, so new releases are sure to keep listeners excited for what’s next.
