Connor Douglas Ferguson – Taste of His Spit

Connor Douglas Ferguson tells an emotional personal story of love and pursuing dreams in his sophomore single, ‘Taste of His Spit’. The guitars have a punchy pace, and they’re contrasted well with the smoothness in the vocals. There’s also something about the way the more toned-back sound introduces more sonic elements moving forward. On this track, Ferguson says that it’s about meeting a struggling older artist who warned him about LA and pursuing dreams within it. The lyricism overall does well at exploring different aspects of this relationship, some of the highs and lows.

They weave around gorgeously and don’t miss a single cue. It’s a bit gospel and a bit afrobeat while working with an indie pop basis. With ‘One Time’, Hanr creates a dreamy R&B soundscape with reverb-y synths and simple percussion. The vocals have a bit of a percussive but melodic flow. Though the production isn’t lo-fi, the background synth gives the beat a lo-fi feel. Overall, this track seems to pull listeners into its sweetness. Lyrically, it begs listeners to fall into this feeling with its depictions of love. It’s beautifully written with a tale of letting a lover know they’re on the mind and the deep feelings that come from that.
