Michellar has worked with Toby Wilson to release their new single ‘Intersection’ yesterday 12/14/2024. Here’s an exploration of its sound and two other recent tracks.
Michellar Ft. Toby Wilson – Intersection
‘Intersection’ is a folksy string ballad that’s filled with wonder. One thing that immediately stands out about it is the production and mix. The production is clear, and the mix places the different strings into the stereo in a cohesive way. The percussion works well with the strings, but the guitar and banjo work well together to control the flow of the track. They’re both fingerpicked with quick precision to create something lifelike. Toby Wilson brings vocals to the table with a bright smoothness and emotional twang. Lyrically, it captures a tale of falling deeper into love at an intersection and uses storytelling to create a picturesque scene of the passion and warmth of sharing a kiss while on the road.
Kayla Marque – Slow Burn
‘Slow Burn’ is the opening track of Kayla Marque’s latest album “Midheaven”. It stands out as a heavy-hitting and soul-filled pop hit with atmosphere and introspective tones. One thing it does well is the way that the instrumentation works with bass-filled lower tones, and the vocals have higher tones. The R&B influences stand out in a unique way, and the vocals riffs and their overall sound take the stage with power and grace. The lyrics paint a poetic and poignant example of what it’s like to be in love while struggling with issues in the self. It captures a tale of being in love but struggling with the fears of slowly crushing a relationship.
Kyla Jade – O Holy Night
‘O Holy Night’ is a beautiful spin on the original vocal track with a gospel basis and a lot of soul. The instrumentation and vocals all work together well with jazzy intricacies, and everything about it is dynamic and lifelike. The vocals jump in and out at different times, and their pacing changes up in flow well. There’s a lot of power in them, and belted notes work well when intersected with the riffs. Though the gospel sound is Christmassy, it doesn’t sound too typical like many other holiday covers do. This track brings something fresh to the table for anyone, even if they don’t usually enjoy the sounds of the holidays.
