These 3 singles all have a pop basis or influences, but none of them are quite too similar. They’re here to show the diversity of sounds that pop music can be used to create
Ava Valianti – Laugh Track
‘Laugh Track’ is an energetic but raw-sounding folk-pop track that astounds with its catchy hooks and sound that seems to blend acoustic and electric. The guitars in this track play with fingerpicked intricacy, the piano gives a bit of a jazzy tone, and the bass fits softly into the mix to add more tonality to things. Over all of this, the vocals astound with a mix of full and wispy tones, all with an emotional edge. The lyrics explore concepts such as people pleasing, recognizing flaws, and feeling as if being treated as a joke.
Janiq Ft. Full Blown – Flowers and Fantasies
‘Flowers and Fantasies’ kicks things into a synthy pop idol sensation with R&B influences. The production of this track is so crisp, there’s a bit of a funky groove in the instrumentation, and the bass takes the stage to carry things along well. The percussion compliments the bass well for a clean flow with just enough bounce. Once again, this track puts a lot of the focus on the vocals. They capture a sound that seamlessly blends smoothness and punchy rhythm. The lyrics are a bit spicy, pack an empowering punch, and deliver an infectious chorus.
Yami. Ft. GSC1 – nauseous
‘nauseous’ takes things in a bit of an experimental hip-hop hyperpop sound with a lo-fi production and dynamic vocal filtering. This track weaves energy into it so well, as the slower portions weave into the quicker, more beat-driven portions well. Its energetic sound does well when playing with more emotional vocals and lyrics. Lyrically, it explores the feeling of wanting to leave things behind, losing friends, and feeling sick from mental health struggles.
