The three gals featured in this round-up are here to show audiences that musical explorations of relationships can be unique from each other. Each one explores different facets of different kinds of relationships, all with a sense of deep thought and emotion. They just released today, May 2, 2025.
Sara Baroni – Where did he go?
‘Where did he go’ hits a melancholic indie pop sound with beautifully produced electric instruments and soft vocals that find a way to pop. There’s something about this track that meshes a lo-fi feel with clean sonics. The melody is beautiful, and the mix places everything in the stereo in a way that allows everything to stand out. Lyrically, this is a track about catching feelings, but it hits the side of not knowing what to do with those feelings quite yet.
Mia Mathilda – Radical Acceptance
For a first original release, ‘Radical Acceptance’ is a great establishment. The instrumentation is based on a quick piano with some more drawn-out bass that builds over time. The chorus hits with infectious melody, and the verses have diverse rhythms that hit smoother and snappier flows. This is another track with soft vocals that are produced well, which helps them stand out in their breathy beauty. This track chillingly captures the pain that comes from being in a toxic relationship that causes pain and suffering.
Claudy – Frenemies
‘Frenemies’ turns up the sonics to a more electronically filtered vocal that takes the focus of the verses, and the chorus fills things up with bass-y atmosphere. This track, while having emotional lyricism, seems to take on an optimistic bounce in its instrumentation. The vocals in this track take on almost a brassy tone with a buzz in their delivery. This track captures what it’s like to be in toxic friendships and the drama and hurt that brings.
