Modern-day torchbearers of the Omaha, Nebraska, alt-rock scene, local staple The Party After has emerged from the studio with their most ambitious undertaking yet. Celebrating the release of their recently released studio album “Dopamine Machine,” the group showcases the height of their creative prowess as well as their proclivities for creating memorable earworms with heavy-hitting energy. Highlighting the collection, their intense and abundantly upbeat anthem “Desperation (The Rain Dance)” takes center stage as a marquee standout throughout their entire repertoire.
The track begins with the eruption of an embellished electric guitar, as a percussive thunder quickly follows and the music begins to take shape. As the two parts play back and forth to each other, informing the growing intensity of their next stanza, the volume increases, and the world of the music builds in front of us. Frontman Jared Williams begins the narrative direction of the tune shortly after and begins his vocals with the opening line “The well has ran dry. We need water to survive. Can we bring the clouds tonight?” Delivered in a hearty and resonant tambour, their delivery rounds out the listening experience with every verse.
Inspired by the hard rock and grunge movements that moved a generation, but with a production quality entirely of its own, their music wastes no time in motivating their audience to feel a sense of enthusiasm for their work. Having accomplished so much with this latest release, fans can only wait with anticipation to see what these artists could possibly have in store for their fans next.
