Some Highlights of This Year to Celebrate Westwell’s Release Today, ‘A little of your love’

Westwell just released their latest track, ‘A little of your love,’ which is a stellar release with a lot of emotion. Because of this, Popfad has decided to collect it alongside some other tracks from the last few months to celebrate. The two that come after it rest in a similar range of indie pop, but the last two are exciting electronic tracks to pick up the energy. Read on to learn more about this new release and others that may just catch your ears.

Westwell – A little of your love

‘A little of your love’ offers indie-pop piano ballad melancholy with wondrous beauty. What really brings it out is the production style. It’s awestrikingly raw, every bit of soft emotion standing out in the vocals with stellar piano dynamics in the background. The way the leveling works, the way the piano fades into its quieter moments and rises into its stronger moments, really stands out. There’s an instrumental bit that stands out, and the vocals hit a bit of a spoken word twang with just enough melody to keep it captivating. Lyrically, it’s about heartbreak and feeling hard to love in the eyes of another. It shows how love positively impacts and a yearning for it to be received.

Night Teacher – Past Life

The bird SFX and atmospheric synths provide an introspective start to ‘Night Teacher,’ and then after a slow rise, a full-band indie rock sound cuts in that sounds both fresh and nostalgic. The vocals have a bit of a washed-out sound, but they find a way to play well with the reverb-laden guitars and overall crisp instrumentation. There’s a really dreamy sound here, and it provides a smooth swing to vibe out and think to. Lyrically, this track tackles the idea of desire and lack thereof. It seems to get into what it’s like to find someone who raises a sense of desire when there wasn’t that sense before.

Maria-Ines – Mixed Emotions

‘Mixed Emotions’ is a beautiful track that uses acoustic guitar with reverb and atmospheric synths for a beautifully smooth flow. Something that works well with this track is that the vocals work well with softer tones produced to crisp clarity, and before some soft percussion cuts in, they do well at carrying the rhythm through a dynamic flow. There’s something about this track that finds the line between simple and full, and it does well at delivering the lyrics. Lyrically, this track feels like it comes from the place of someone who loves another but doesn’t trust that they are loved back. The lyrics delve into this being from a past relationship with the lyric, “I don’t want another heartbreak.”

SaInT – Fake Ass Bitch

‘Fake Ass Bitch’ pulls this round-up in a different direction with its exciting EDM vibe that’s full of life and wonder. This house track starts with a synth pulse that slowly rises and ethereal electronic vocals that take the forefront. It has a slow rise before a quick pickup with some percussive synths, and then a fade back before a bass bump takes the forefront with some brighter synths that trill along. The vocals have great melody, and after this, the flow of energy does well at fading and rising to take control. The highs and lows make it the perfect beat to dance to and enjoy the energy.

Akihisa Yorozu – Transplex-Evo-Alpha

‘Transplex-Evo-Alpha’ benefits from a dynamic sound that works with glitchy synths that play with instrumental melody and diverse rhythms to build into an experience that’s unique and captivating front to back. It has EDM influence, but there’s an aspect to it that almost makes it feel like it’s from a video game. The lows in energy are really pretty, introducing some piano tones, and the way the synths jab around in the energetic moments is nothing short of lifelike. This track has a lot of depth, and it lands in a genre that the producer created, which is called Transplex, a mix of Trance and Complextro.
