Wuzy Bambussy’s newest release, ‘Little Lion,’ mixes influences from jazz and nostalgic synth pop to tell a tale straight out of a fantasy novel!
‘Little Lion’ has a really nice funk-inspired groove delivered with a smooth quality. There’s a nice buzz to its brass instrumental leads, the synths have a great bounce, and the hi-hat-laden instrumentation carries things along beautifully. And then there are the vocals, which have a softness that’s delivered with clarity. They have just a bit of a rasp to them, and they riff and bend around, hitting a stronger quality at times. This track is a strong release, and it takes jazzy influences to deliver something fresh. Lyrically, it has a quality of fantasy, which gives it a creative allure. It opens with the lyrics, “Little Lion / Free of care / Bring your fire / To the fayre.” It captures a tale of one who’s in some sort of trouble, reaching out to another who’s already gone.
