Arctic Wave /// Salt in The Wound

Fortified by the storied musical history of their hometown in Austin, Texas, alt rock outfit Arctic Wave has given their fans all they can ask for, releasing a constant stream of new work over the last several years, turning more and more heads with every debut. Assertively seizing every opportunity they continue to create for themselves, the group has earned acclaim across the globe as they continue to showcase their work on the biggest scales. Growing with every step, their latest release proves a marquee addition to their robust repertoire. As they celebrate the debut of their recent single, Salt in The Wound, the project showcases the innovative and nuanced proclivities of their work through this vibrant and anthemic new single.

A heavily augmented electric guitar reverberates in a single and distorted note to begin the piece, and we are immediately thrown into the world of this music as layers of instrumentality are built on its ensuing riff. As the musicality expands, we quickly feel the world of this record being built around us in real time. As the vocals begin and the narrative enters, we are thrust into the thematic core of the piece with the opening line “Beware the landscape, it ain’t pretty. Reveal a sad truth, there ain’t no dignity. Love hurts, it’s going to get you to the real thing” leading to the titular line “If you want to be healed, gotta pour some salt up into the wound.”

An honest and sentimental reflection of an artist’s interpretation of the human condition, the track gives fans plenty to be excited about as the group continues to define their own legacy with no signs of slowing down.
