‘Daughter Of A Good Man’ is a phenomenal example of how indie, folk, and pop influences can come together to deliver a somber and emotional experience. It rests along the lines of Phoebe Bridgers, Haley Heynderickx, and Lizzy McAlpine in terms of style. This comes along with a softer sound, focus on lyricism, crisp production, and electronic instrumentation with the aforementioned folk influences. The instrumentation cuts between more string-focused bits to fill out the sound and more percussively driven parts to give focus to both the vocals and the full range of instrumentation. Lyrically, it seems to be about the narrator grappling with intergenerational struggles due to having loved their father, but in retrospect, accepting his shortcomings for what they are.

‘Fellow Song’ is a soul-filled pop/R&B track with a slappy bass, plucky guitar, and absolutely phenomenal vocal performance. This track holds onto a softness, but the rhythm builds in a way that gives it a drive. As much as it has a sway and flow to it, it also gives a clacky punch. Additionally, there is a scat section pushed in to further drive a diverse flow section to section. The vocals bend around with prowess, and they do well at working with timbre, finding soft, breathy moments and more powerful moments. It serves as a lyrical plea for a friend to accept help in crushing a habit that could prove to be deadly over time, and in turn, move toward self-love and preservation.
Andoni – Anaesthesia
‘Anaesthesia’ is a pop and R&B piece with more of a focus on a modern sound, with phenomenal sonics and an addictive melody, especially in the chorus. The guitars have a really great sway to them and carry the instrumentation alongside the guitars and occasional sax. Then, the synths are there to further add to the fullness of the piece. The vocals have a lot of range in their rhythm, which does well at carrying a flow of energy that plays off its narrative. In terms of said narrative, this track is about moving forward from past struggles and trying to find ways to cope with and get rid of the pain. It captures a tale of the search for healing.
Oriana Nash – WDYKAM?
‘Oriana Nash’ brings things more into a rock-influenced pop idol vibe. It’s a confidence anthem with thrashy, full-force guitars and powerful vocals. This is a headbanging tune with a punky energy that also breaks into a synthy bridge with a dash of atmosphere. This track refuses to hold back, and it would fit for any getting-ready playlist used for getting a much-needed energy and self-confidence boost. Its melody is addictive throughout, but it doesn’t sacrifice a sense of grit in doing so. Additionally, it sits in stark contrast to the rest of her discography with the edge that it has. Lyrically, it stands against mistreatment by men and takes power in the feminine.
SOPHIE SHREDZ – DISTORTIONIST
‘DISTORTIONIST’ is an absolutely hardcore banger. It has glitchy EDM production with a grungy edge in its buzziness and a hardcore twang. It’s filled with dynamic vocal editing, a strong bass drive, jarring higher-toned synths, and even small portions with electroswing influences. This may be one of the most unique girl-led pop tracks in recent years. Its tempo is forceful, and it has a bit of a metal edge to it. This track is great, and it emits a hectic feeling that is unmatched. Lyrically, it seems to be about having the power to distort one’s own image and the perception that is taken on by others.
