Anchored in their proclivities for creating warm and thoughtful music that feature introspection at the forefront of their lyricism, European indie rock project “Marston and Baldi” has quickly gained the attention of fans worldwide as they begin to debut their music to a growing audience. A collaborative work between Italian guitarist, songwriter, and producer Giorgio Baldi and American songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Matthew Marston, the project brings these artists’ decades of experience to each track they write and record together. In anticipation of their upcoming EP, the duo builds anticipation with the release of their latest single “Hope In The Dark.” An emotionally captivating display of their creative prowess, the single introduces the group with spectacular personability.
A sharp and reverberant instrumental pluck echoes to begin the piece, and immediately we feel the warmth and pensive tone that this music was designed to foster. Shortly into the track, the comforting timbre of the vocals fill our speakers and the narrative begins with the opening line “All this time, I’ve been looking for someone just like me, with just a little more, but all I needed was quite the opposite.” Rich and compelling vocal harmonies continue to drive the emotional direction of the tune while retaining its core intimate feeling as the musicality picks up in tempo.
Nostalgically sensible with an unmistakable modern flare of urgency, the single sets a high bar for the heights we can expect from this partnership as fans wait with anticipation to see what could be coming next from their minds and studio.
