With “Here I Am Meant To Be,” New Sunday delivers a reflective rock release that explores resilience, personal growth, and the search for purpose. The single continues to develop the Icelandic studio project’s sound, balancing emotionally driven songwriting with a melodic approach that allows the story to take centre stage.
At the heart of the track is songwriter Einar Askelsson’s belief that music should begin with a story. Drawing inspiration from personal experiences, poetry, and reflections on life, he builds his compositions around the emotions he wants to communicate. Rather than relying on overly complicated arrangements, New Sunday embraces a less is more philosophy, giving the melody room to breathe and allowing the song’s message to resonate naturally.
The track’s central theme revolves around finding direction after difficult experiences and recognising that personal struggles do not have to define the future. Its title suggests a moment of acceptance: understanding that honesty, perseverance, and self discovery can lead someone toward where they are meant to be. This sense of purpose gives the song an encouraging quality without diminishing the challenges behind its message.
The collaboration between Askelsson, vocalist Elizabet “Lizzie,” and producer Simon is another defining element of the release. Lizzie brings warmth and emotional expression to the songwriting, while Simon helps shape the arrangement into a cohesive production. Despite working remotely and never having met in person, the trio demonstrates how creative chemistry can flourish through communication, trust, and a shared artistic vision.
“Here I Am Meant To Be” may not depend on dramatic musical gestures to make its impact, but its restraint is part of its appeal. New Sunday offers a thoughtful reminder that sometimes, finding your place in the world begins with taking small steps forward. With this latest single, the project continues to establish an identity rooted in sincerity, storytelling, and the transformative power of music.
