If you love scary movies, you’re going to love ‘Scary Movies’ by Rocky Bottom.
‘Scary Movies’ has an alternative pop-rock sound with a bit of a country twang. And each genre is blended just right. The vocal bends bring in the country twang, but the instrumentals bring that rock basis. The percussion in this track plays well with the pacing, the guitar works well with both fingerpicking and strumming, and there are brighter tones pulled in through the piano. Though the musicality isn’t really scary, there’s something about the sharpness of the piano that builds a vaguely spooky atmosphere. This track was written as an homage to scary movies, and it seems to compare a relationship to being in a horror movie. This is an interesting spin on an exploration of love, and it’s creative and fun!
Rocky Bottom is a Nashville-based musical project created by Alex Hernandez. It started with a punk sound in New Jersey, but when Hernandez moved to Nashville the sound evolved. Country and folk elements started being implemented among others, and the sound moved more in this direction overall. Hernandez explores a range of topics including emotions and virtues, and it’s been done well so far! Let’s see where it all goes from here!
