December has already been a big month for music, and that’s been proven today, 12/06/2024, with these 3 unique releases that just dropped.
Yo Yo Sun – More Than What I Am
‘More Than What I Am’ is here to pull listeners with its jazzy bounce, soul-filled influences, entrancing melody, and soft rock influences. The bounce bass and guitar build a great driving force, but the dynamics also introduce plucky strings, and the cello rounds out the sound well. The strings rule the instrumentation overall, and the percussion is mixed well to complement it well. Vocally, there’s a lot of soul and the notes are held strongly with captivating riffs mixed in. The lyrics of this track explore a yearning to change, grow, and become something more than one feels like what they are out of love for another.
Aaron Koenig – The Paradox Groove
‘The Paradox Groove’ hits a sound that complements the title, groovy. This track has funk influences with a bit of a modern dance sound, and it has more than enough energy to spare. The guitar and percussion work well in this track to make an exciting and unique soundscape. There’s something erratic about it in the right way. On top of that, brass instruments are introduced throughout the track to fill the sound with a buzzy warmth. Vocally, it works with a lot of slow bends in a mid-range tone. They have a bit of a growl at times, and it punches some emotion into it. The lyrics capture a simple but important lesson. Get up and dance, groove out, and have fun. And it does well at providing that fun and excitement overall.
Elijah Mitchell – It’s Time
‘It’s Time’ works well with a soft production style and pacing to make things sound emotional. The production makes things seem raw, even though synths are used. There’s such a nice flow to everything, and the use of reverb fills the sound introspectively. The synths weave around well while being held out and mixed well to keep the sound full throughout. The vocals do take the foreground though. Like the music, they work with a softness and have a wispy sound to them. They’re beautiful in the way they bend and riff around. The introspective sound of the music works well with the lyricism. It’s about falling in love and being pulled closer. It feels like a daydream of physical and emotional intimacy for another.
