The Day I Found You /// Tom Tikka & The Missing Hubcaps

Find your groove in the face of lost love with Tom Tikka’s release from February 7, 2025, ‘The Day I Found You’!

The atmospheric synths that intro ‘The Day I Found You” bring an 80s sound to a rock-pop track with a captivating bass drive that is meant to throw the listener back to the times of Paul McCartney. The single has great energy that works with a moderate flow to create a sound that pushes forward but also jumps back into a sense of introspection. The instrumentation has a full-band sound with multiple guitar layers and sensible drumline all with sections that are a bit more synth-heavy. A high point is the bridge, in which the guitars take on a quick rush and the vocals use a filter that makes them seem to waver in and out of the airspace. Lyrically, this track flies through memories with lyrics that depict past experiences. It shows the hurt that one has when another steps away, but they express, “You got lucky, babe when I found you.”

Tom Tikka (the one with The Missing Hubcaps) is a former songwriter for Sony/BMG who’s working on adding another collected work to his own discography. This work is an album called, “Room Full of Strangers”, from which ‘The Day I Found You’ is the most recent release. In 2024, he hit close to a million streams, and ‘The Day I Found You’ is here to bump that up even further. The music video was filmed in London, and after that, Tikka was already on his way to Florence to keep creating new music. Sounds like last year has set him on a roll that’s sure to continue soon.
