BLUES.NOIR’s debut single, “Främlingar på tåg,” arrives like a slow moving thundercloud, dense, unsettling, and impossible to ignore. The track introduces the Gothenburg trio with a sound that digs deep into the roots of blues while channeling the weight and grit of stoner and doom metal. It’s a fusion that feels both familiar and freshly sharpened, all delivered through the raw immediacy of Swedish lyrics.
At the center of the project is bassist and vocalist Daniel Palm, previously known for anchoring the rhythm section of the sci-fi riff machine Cities of Mars. Here, he steps into a new creative world, trading cosmic themes for something earthier yet equally shadowed. Joining him is Cities of Mars drummer Johan Aronstedt, whose recording work on this track brings a muscular backbone to the band’s debut. Together with guitarist Nils Hagen, the trio leans fully into a mood of foreboding intensity.
“Främlingar på tåg” feels like a journey through midnight corridors, its heavy, pummeling rhythms echoing the steady rumble of rails beneath a speeding train. Distorted guitars carve out thick, ominous riffs that hang in the air like smoke, while Palm’s deep, resonant vocals add a storytelling weight that intensifies the song’s unease. Singing in Swedish gives the narrative an even more visceral edge; the language pairs beautifully with the band’s dark sonic palette, enhancing the sense of looming danger and emotional isolation.
What stands out most is the band’s command of tone. This isn’t blues rock dressed up to sound heavy; it’s blues dragged into the abyss, reshaped with purpose and conviction. BLUES.NOIR’s vision feels unmistakably their own, stark, immersive, and anchored in the heritage of a city long celebrated for its heavy music legacy. “Främlingar på tåg” is a gripping introduction from a trio ready to carve out their own shadowed corner of the Scandinavian rock landscape.
