When assembling life’s puzzle, there is often an elusive, missing piece. Searching for whatever will fill the void, Australian indie rock project, Avresa, goes on a melodic quest with their latest single, “Find Something.” A serene soundscape serves as the backdrop for singer-songwriter Jeremy Binger’s mysterious journey.
From the get go, a chill vibe is established via a light, acoustic driven melody. An easy going feeling sets up the listener for the majestic tune that is yet to unfold. In turn, Binger’s vapory vocals complement the ethereal quality this tune begins with.
Building upon its airy sound, this tune reaches for loftier heights. Within each chorus, Binger’s vocals begin to soar with the aid of the jet stream melody. Uplifting in every sense, this tune establishes its own unique atmosphere.
The pursuit of a missing element is the main theme of this track. To put it plainly, Binger is determined to “find something.” Expanding upon that, he is looking to “find somewhere more inviting.” While there is an easy going feel, there is an undercurrent of emptiness. You can hear it in Binger’s vocals with each “find” plea during the chorus.
A feeling of loss drives Binger’s search. “Lost are the season,” he recites. In turn, Binger resolves that “we go without reason.” The concept of time goes by the wayside, leaving him in search of a purpose. Without changing seasons, life is, conceptually, rudderless.
Through it all, Binger has crafted a soothing sound that aspires for something greater. “Find Something” is a meditative piece that centers on what makes life complete.
