Still Shining /// Coastal Town

“Still Shining” is the new single by pop artist Coastal Town. Coastal Town is an indie pop group based out of Vancouver, Canada.

According to their Spotify description, “Still Shining” draws influence from Daft Punk’s 2013 album “Random Access Memories.” The guitar part on “Still Shining” definitely sounds similar to some of that Daft Punk album. The drum beat and vocals blend perfectly with the fast rhythm part that the guitar takes center stage with. There is a lead guitar solo as well, that adds licks to the main melody.

There is a female lead vocalist, and about halfway through the song, a male vocalist joins her. After the chorus, there is a slowed down bridge section where the female vocalist takes control of the song. “The day had to end. I’m sorry, I’ll play you one more, a new song. To stay in your head ‘til morning, replay it once more all night long,” they sing together. The momentum of the song is energetic, and continues to jam until the end of the track where sound fades out to quiet.

Coastal Town is a large collaboration that includes high school students and mentors within the local music community. Kris Schultz and Jacob Seyer are listed as key contributors to the group’s songwriting and development. The group has also been featured on the “New Music Friday Philippines” playlist.

To this date, Coastal Town has released 11 songs on Spotify. They are an interesting collaboration, and the results speak for themselves.
