‘When I’m Gone’ is an introspective indie-folk ballad that catches the ears with grace.
The banjo fingerpicking, the harmonica, the soft percussion, everything about ‘When I’m Gone’ shows tender country-influenced folk beauty. Building onto this, the vocals follow suit with a nice country bend but a folk softness. This is such a well-done and somber blend of both genres. Lyrically, it explores the idea that what we have is this moment, and even though the world may be dark and confusing at times, this moment is enough to have hope for.
