The musical highlight in Clown Song is for sure Gabrielle Manna’s vocals. They’re amazingly smooth, the harmonies round them out so well, and the production gives them the spotlight. That being said, the warm acoustic basis is the perfect backdrop. When it comes to lyrics, it uses the idea of calling a former partner a clown to take power in coming out of a toxic relationship. Overall, this is a moderate-tempo breakup anthem from a place of growth and strength.
