Jake Marshall – San Francisco

San Francisco is out today! It’s an indie pop jam with a bright soundscape that’s built with synths and electric guitar. On top of that, there’s a little trumpet interlude that has a nice brassiness, and the vocals have a unique buzziness to their tone. It tells a lyrical tale of what it’s like being in love and being committed, but the other side of things doesn’t share that same commitment.

There Is No One But Me – CONTROL Ft. BLKPND

‘CONTROL’ is a dancey jam with good dynamics and a lot of emotion. The vocals are produced to fit well into the synthy sound, and the music builds a sense of optimism, but it tackles a more emotional tone lyrically. It takes back control in its lyrics, as the voice of it seems to be fighting to take back their autonomy from mistreatment.

Nothing Like Robots – I Gotchu

‘I Gotchu’ continues this list with the dancey synth music. It works with rich pop harmonies, interesting vocal tone and production, and darker sounds, with a bit of a Raggae undertone at times. Also, It has such a good bounce throughout. And, it lyrically goes into themes of living in the moment and love for another even if that isn’t a healthy thing.

Tahoma Sound System – President

‘President’ Is led by a quick percussive drive and synths that are held out to fill the sound space. The instrumentation is simple but quick, and it serves as a good backdrop for the spoken-word style rap. The lyrics are taken from a poem written by Zoe Leonard in 1992. It explores the desire for a president who properly represents those of minority status in America or has had shared struggles with those misunderstood by society.

Maad – Carousel

‘Carousel’ is an ambient pop track with an instrumentation that has tones that have a lullaby tone with an ominous aspect. It holds a slow pace well without being too much. The vocals have a soft baritone sound that works well with the brightness in the instrumentation. On top of that, there’s a guitar solo that has the perfect punch. Lyrically, it poetically explores ideas such as love and yearning.

Lady Bazaar – Take the time

‘Take The Time’ is an R&B-inspired indie pop jam with a gorgeous bounce and an overarching dreaminess. The vocals are beautiful and dynamic, and the instrumentation follows suit. On top of that, it mixes electric elements with acoustic elements such as a beautiful flute interlude. The lyrics are beautiful and natural, and they seem to beg listeners to take a step back and relax when necessary.

Hev’s Journey – Dance

‘Dance’ is a pop jam with a lot of power and optimism in it. Instrumentally, the acoustic guitar picking takes the stage. But, it plays well with some trap-based drums and deeper bass. It has Dominican influences and Spanish sections, and it does well at taking this world influence and meshing it with other influences. The lyrics mostly explore the beauty of freedom through dancing and singing. It begs the listener to live in and enjoy the moment.

Merylem – Somewhere

‘Somewhere’ immediately builds an ominous experimental synth-pop vibe with the dark synth introduction. It’s a bit dancey, and a lot atmospheric, and the vocals pack such a punch. The synthy production bounces the listener along, and new instrumental aspects are added which fill the soundspace with life. It goes into the struggles of having a job that adds stress and difficulty which builds into an overwhelming pressure.
