“Do I stay or do I go?” That’s the question Mike and Mandy ask in their latest single ‘Cocoon’!
‘Cocoon’ is a dreamy indie-pop jam with a bit of a funk to it. The bass guitar is slappy, and bass overtones cut in and stand out when spattered about in the mix. The vocals are super smooth and have a soft sweetness. There are also some underlying 80s influences that give a vaguely vaporwave sound. Also, the lyrics explore a back-and-forth. They meet at that crossroads of not knowing whether to stay in a relationship or leave it behind. The way this is done is by using poetic nature references to capture things poignantly. There is fire, but there is hope.
Mike and Mandy are a married Los Angeles-based musical duo on top of being performance artists. Aside from their music, Mike was once in a Volkswagen Jetta commercial, and Mandy was featured in the film “The Nowhere Inn”. Mike and Mandy both had regular day jobs, but they lost them during the 2020 pandemic and shifted toward creating original music. They have several singles and an EP under their belt already, so let’s see how this discography evolves.
