It Has Begun (feat. Tay Edwards) /// Tanoki

The Ashville, North Carolina rapper Tay Edwards is featured on this track by producer and songwriter Tanoki, “It Has Begun.” The intro comes in with a guitar instrumental, then he comes in rapping.

The lyrics take a look into our society, and specifically references technology and what it means for the future. “What does the future hold for our innovation?” the chorus states.

The beat sounds kinda like an electronic rock track, with heavy bass and distortion, but is composed around the rap flow. The drum does a good job adding more layers to the track, with the beat hitting hard to go with the punchline lyrics about technology.

The song is a cautionary tale that takes analysis of how things have changed, and what that could mean for the future. He talks about his kid learning to ride a bike from watching youtube, instead of having his dad teach him the right way. It is an interesting thought, that we have somehow lost the origins and traditions because of things like the internet and social media.

“It Has Begun” is an alternative rap track with clever lyrics and exciting production and instrumentation. The song doesn’t offer an answer to the question posed, yet the other lyrics can shed light on this premise. “It has begun, what have we done, what we create, might be the one, to bring our salvation, feel our temptation” the chorus says before the question is asked. It seems that humanity has grown and suffered because of our own technological advancement, with the next invention potentially changing the world all over again, just like computers did, and then just like the internet did.
