The serendipity of being in a room with giant noise, hailing from Finch Faux, the jittery feelings running down the arm like raised hairs, we try to understand the sound of Finch Faux’s “Never Go Out” we are left only to abandon deep sussing out, for the more visceral singing along to the melodic, sublime prose-
Its anthemic calls shout to the rooftops from far off and we wonder as we can’t help the call and response if anyone is doing the same thing somewhere in the pathos of the sticky night. This is an electronic/ alt cult classic waiting to happen.
As we remember groups like Ladytron, The Knife and Fever Ray we can also hear the ruminating pulsating of Finch Faux over loud speakers. The sounds are an electronic bonfire! A city woken at the wee hours to sirens and a chanting for a dance revolution if that ever were the case this would be the soundtrack.
A hide away somewhere in a bunker filled with records and books and you’d really think of playing only this for a grand portion of time (along with a definitive list of albums).
“I never go out/ you’ve never seen me,” it’s as though the lyrics were referring to an isolation that we all live and the upbeat tempo belies the grating feeling of being walled-in a-la 80’s new wave music. There’s a bounce that comes from the chorus that wails and summons youthful abandon. It’s a labyrinth of electronic sound which no one escapes untouched or unchanged. Finch Faux churns the mast as siren with all their lucid musical prowess.
