“The Man With Laser Hands” by Beau Bowen is an Electronic influenced Rock song with creative songwriting and unique sounds.
This song has lots going on, in a good way. There are female vocal echoes presently used to add to the melody, while the electronic bass sets the ominous tone of the song. There are also lead male vocals, and a heavily distorted guitar track. The intense synthesizer sound mimicked by an electric guitar carries and is the most prominent instrument on the track.
The electronic drum as well as the synthesizer both feature distortion effects like the guitar, and carry the song into the guitar solo. After the solo, there is a repetition of the chorus again, and that leads into the outro of the track. Coming in at 3:23 minutes, the song gets its message across, and then it’s finished.
“It was in a dream, The Man with Laser Hands was chasing me,” said the first lyrics of the song. The guitar tone sounds influenced by the legend Jimi Hendrix, and yet the rest of the song sounds a lot different from what a typical rock song would sound like. It feels like Beau Bowen is influenced by the EDM genre as well, because the drum loop and background synthesizer both sound upbeat and attempt to get the listener to get up and move around.
Although most of the lyrics seem abstract, the song concludes with, “Here’s what I can say, I think you’ll be okay, take it day by day my love.” The female vocalist gets to conclude the song, as the outro features these last few lines.
Overall, the song keeps the listener engaged because of how unique everything sounds, and is surprisingly catchy for how many moving parts there are in the song.
