This Feeling /// No Vacancies

“This Feeling,” the latest single by Manchester UK’s No Vacancies, is an indie rock romp wrapped up in a bundle of nerves. From start to finish, this track emits an anxious energy that further cements its uneasiness. Altogether, this song gives off the tension of a ticking time bomb that is in need of diffusing.

At the beginning, a driving bass line gets thrown by the wayside for a ramped up tempo. From here on out, the pulse of this track quickens significantly. Beyond the frenetic guitar play, the drums keep incredible time and help to increase the collective urgency. There is hardly a respite in this track from the ruckus that No Vacancies employs here.

Lead singer Will Mcgarrie’s swaggering vocals enter the fray as he sings “please tell me what you want. Cuz I can see it taking too long for you to realize it’s not gonna work. So let’s cut these ties before this bubble bursts.” The chorus’ main refrain of “this feeling is breaking me down” puts it all in perspective. Mcgarrie turns fully exasperated with each turn of this frenzied chorus. At the same time, this track’s energy builds up to the chorus, leading to an explosive bit of guitar and drums every time.

On a fitting note, “This Feeling” ends on one large burst of thrashing guitar, pounding bass and drums. Altogether, the clock has struck zero on this track, leaving a sonic shock wave in its wake. In conclusion, No Vacancies delivered an explosive, pulse pounding track.
