Burn Fever Burn /// Sam Joole

“Burn Fever Burn” is a funky concoction of disco, house, and electropop from Sam Joole, with an assist from fellow Australian band Tango Fever. With detailed production and tight musicianship, this song is guaranteed to have your head nodding within seconds.

Sounding like a lost Daft Punk Random Access Memories demo, “Burn Fever Burn” is driven by a heavy disco beat and a groovy bass line that forbids you to sit still. The rhythm section is flanked by Prince-like guitar stabs and an arpeggiator that sounds like it’s ricocheting off the walls. There is so much to enjoy in this track. Each instrument does a great job of keeping busy, but not fighting for the same space. Making electronic music really feel ‘alive’ can be a difficult task, but the mixture here of live and programmed instruments, along with Joole’s vocalizations, gives the song so much life.

If Jim Morrison had a chance to make a dance record in the 21st century, he might have come out sounding a lot like Sam Joole. His cool, relaxed delivery doesn’t distract or overcrowd the already busy track, and ultimately that’s what makes a successful collaboration. When you collaborate it’s no longer all about you; you’re part of a team and you need to play your part. Sam Joole and Tango Fever know their roles, and they all fit under the spotlight with room to spare.

“Burn Fever Burn” has a clean, crisp production that provides a great soapbox for Sam Joole to talk his talk. That, coupled with an undeniable groove, makes this track the perfect party-starter.
