“Sweet Nostalgia” is the new single by artist Jokyo. According to his Youtube page, he is a “21 year old Half Filipino indie musician, singer and producer.”
The song starts with a keyboard section, followed by a synthesizer. Next, the beat comes in with a new melody part, followed by the introduction of Jokyo’s vocals. He has a lot to say, rapping in a fast succession with the electro beat accompanying him. The song clocks in at 3:47 minutes, which is a good length. The song doesn’t end abruptly, but it also doesn’t drag along either. It seems to come to a natural conclusion after Jokyo said what he wanted to say.
Jokyo raps about his relationships with friends, and how people can change over time. “They say that people never change, just out of the blue. You think that people stay the same? I got some stories for you!” he raps. He has seen people around him change, and that reality makes him reflect on time and those in his life.
The name of the song is sung by a backing vocal track, and is repeated to make the hook. The hook is repeated twice throughout the song, with verses in between and concluding the song. He has released seven singles and one album on his Spotify page. The album, titled “Rage Love & Depression” was released in 2021. His music is multigenre, but contains elements of Rap, Pop, and Dance music.
