It can be a difficult task to find someone with genuine intentions in this day and age. Nowadays, it seems that everyone forms relationships for some specific reason or motive; maybe to get an opportunity or for added “clout.” If you’re tired of these superficial relationships that drain the life out of you, you’ll want to take a listen to ‘Someone Real,’ by Stephen James Orr.
Working together with Eunice Keitan on this track, Stephen and Eunice create a soulful and funky track that touches on the topic of fake people. The inspiration for the piece stemmed from the isolating feelings that we all feel in some situations. It can be hard to continue to put yourself out there when it’s clear that your energy is not being reciprocated. Some people only care about themselves and their own wellbeing, and Eunice articulates this while singing, “everyone [is] just thinking for themselves.”
Eunice describes the loneliness that she has felt while living in a big city while stating, “Living in a big city, interactions can oftenfeel cold and individualistic. “Everyone just living for themselves” is how I described it in the song lyric. Yet, the song remains hopeful and explores the journey of someone searching for real connection and authenticity.”
Though its easy to get discouraged about finding some real relationships in what seem like a sea of untrue people, ‘Someone Real’ creates a joyful, ambitious spirit that is sure to inspire you to keep searching for authenticity. The classical aura created through the rich instrumental on the track mesmerizes and encourages listeners.
With an overall soulful and upbeat-pop-inspired rhythm throughout, this track is extremely relatable and down to earth. ‘Someone Real’ is a track full of truly speaking about our feelings and hoping for more reliable, trustworthy people to walk into our lives.
