Pluviophile Song /// Michelle Limanjae

“Pluviophile Song” is the newest single by indie alternative artist Michelle Limanjae. She is based out of Melbourne, Australia, and is from Indonesia. The inspiration for this song is her love of rain, and that can be observed in the song title and lyrics. She describes herself as a pluviophile, which means “lover of rain.”

The intro features two electric guitar parts, and a drum beat. Her vocals are introduced after the brief intro, and her majestic vocals take the focus. However, the guitar parts crafted around her vocals are experimental, yet harmonize perfectly. Her style sounds similar to alternative artist Mac DeMarco, guitars and singing alike.

This song came together after she was inspired to write a few lines about rain, then ended up completing the whole song naturally. She wrote, composed, and produced the track herself.

She references her imagination, and the weather in the lyrics. It is a calming song, yet has exciting musical parts going on at the same time. “Gloomy rain won’t doom the day, slip the pain, hope it goes away. I’m not a saint kneeling down and pray, I’m a tainted human thanking God for today” she sings. This is a very telling lyric, as she is honest with the listeners about how she sees herself, and her place in the world. She seems comfortable in her own skin, with the rain completely easing any tension that may exist.

“Pluviophile Song” is her second official single, with her first being titled, “Hey Dear Heidi,” which has over 11,000 streams on Spotify.
