You’re going to want to sell your soul for The Ben Poore Project’s new song ‘One For Sorrow’!
‘One For Sorrow’ works with a dark folksy sound that has a driving swing to pull listeners in. Overall, it blends influences from rock, folk, and country to create a fresh sound. For example, the acoustic elements give a bit of a folk flow with a dash of country. Then, the vocals have a bit of a country swing but implement some rock growls. The way this track takes each genre and meshes it makes each one fit in like a puzzle piece. Aside from the music, the lyrics paint a story that the band describes as being about someone selling their soul to the devil after hitting rock bottom. This is done in a way that isn’t too to the point, and it allows for exploration into the story. However, the lyrics at the end tie the storyline together pertinently.
The Ben Poore Project is a Southampton, England-based three-piece band that works in the folk, country, Americana, and rock genres. The band has played covers together for years to master their musicianship and eventually started releasing original music this year. It consists of guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Ben Poore, Bassist Dan HM, and drummer Matt Ax. The music they’ve released shows how much technique they’ve already developed, so let’s see how they take that into future releases!
