Mobley’s latest track ‘Y’r Ghost’ has an entrancing and dynamic sound that’s begging to be heard!
‘Y’r Ghost’ starts with one of those captivating alternative pop-rock sounds with a nice groove to it. The soft percussion and punchy guitar work together flawlessly, and then the vocals cut in following the bassline well. Even the vocals work with a percussiveness in their flow, but they aren’t too punchy. There’s still a smoothness to them. Around 2:00 there’s a start of an energy pickup that uses futuristic synths and more rapid percussion before more elements come in to build a full and speedy soundscape. It lyrically follows the story of a love affair from its start to its bitter end. There’s a lot of emotional resonance in the story it follows.
Mobley is an Austin, Texas-based singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. ‘Y’r Ghost’ was released through Last Gang, and Mobley did all of the writing, performance, and production on his own. In 2022, he released the EP “Cry Havoc!”, which alluded to a sci-fi epic. This epic is what Mobley’s been hard at work crafting in these past few months. ‘Y’r Ghost’ does well at taking the storytelling of said EP and continuing the narrative. This is an artist with storytelling and musical abilities that work cohesively, so let’s see where the story goes from here!
