Dani Felt and Firebird Union have both released brand new tracks today, and there have been tons of new releases to explore lately. Check out these brand new singles and 6 more recent releases.
Dani Felt – Super Hero
‘Super Hero’ starts off with dreamy piano and bright synth sounds, and as it moves along a deeper bass is added and the percussion follows. What stands out most in this track are the vocals. They’re full and well-controlled, and there’s a softness in the cutoff of most of the lines that adds a sweetness to things. Then in the chorus, they hit a catchy sound with a percussive slide that flows between notes. The dynamics are incredible in this track overall, and the lyrics hit a punch of confidence. They express the idea of one walking away from another to become their own superhero.
Firebird Union – Monochrome
For a track called ‘Monochrome,’ this brand new release is filled with a lot of color and life. The bass-driven synth instrumentation brings a nostalgic sound, but then there are indie pop influences and harmonies to freshen things up. The chorus hits an anthemic tone that utilizes repetition and a chant-like sound that’s infectious to the ears. That being said, there’s something almost cinematic about the flow between sections. When listening, it’s almost as if there is something new around every corner. The lyrics do well at storytelling, capturing a world failed by powerful people who, “don’t know the first thing of anything.”
Ari Bay – M.A.C.
‘M.A.C.’ uses vocal synths, guitar sounds, and some trap-influenced drums to build a bright and optimistic sound. This optimism is further built upon in the brighter vocal tone that works with both rap and melodic flows. This is a track that takes rap influences and provides a more happy and confident sound. The flow is fire, and the sung parts have a lot of power behind them. The lyrics follow the confident tone, sharing a story of wasted time but a newfound focus and push toward one’s dreams.
Scarlet Sacrifice – Words Left Behind
‘Words Left Behind’ has a darker bass-heavy sound with cutting higher-toned synths that add some atmosphere and a sense of introspection. One thing that works well in this track is that the brighter synths have a speed and cut to them, but a lot of the vocals are a bit more drawn out and powerfully hold and flow between notes. The vocals flow well, and they’re produced to fit the electronic sound but stand out and hold the focus. The lyrics provide a deep cut that explores mental health, experiencing a negative voice in one’s head, faded memories, and regrets. The poeticism used gives a lot to read into and relate to one’s own experiences.
Brian Porritt – Compassion Again
‘Compassion Again’ uses vocals with layering and harmonies to take the foreground with a beautiful buzzy guitar to introduce the track, and then the bass and drums enter later to round out the sound. Then there are some brass instruments and other string sounds that enter later to round things out even more. This track has a cinematic feel in the way it dynamically flows, rises, and fades throughout. The mix is incredible, and everything stands out in a crisp way in the stereo with the right headphones. The lyrics tell a message important in this day, and that’s to relearn compassion and stop the use of power to push others down.
Sara Diana – CAN’T BE FAZED
‘CAN’T BE FAZED’ has such a crisp sound, mixing a dark punky energy with a smooth indie production. The guitar has a dreaminess, and the drums and bass enter with a moderate pacing but powerful hits. The vocals have a full alto tone, and they have a snappiness that punches along with the instrumentation even though the notes are held with a smooth flow as well. The chorus is belted with power, and the guitar enters with some thrashy chords. The lyrics seem to explore a love and yearning for someone with enough power to capture a heart, though there is an aspect of mental health at play for both parties.
Oscar Ibarra Florez – Echoes Of The Highlands
‘Echoes Of The Highlands’ is an electronic piece that tells a story straight out of myth with vivid imagery. It has an EDM sound, however it hits with more softness than many electronic tracks. It’s very sweet and works mainly with higher tones but has an underlying bass buzz. The lyricism in this track is extremely picturesque, and the highs and lows flow into each other well. When things pick up. The bass hits more of a foreground with a striking bounce. The lyrics sound like being in a D&D campaign but in a way that’s written with vivid poeticism.
Kristen Palmer – Birds of a Feather
‘Birds of a Feather’ takes its stage with vocals that have a mix of softness and flow and a bit of an R&B twang. The vocals have a soft breathiness to them, and overall this gives a dream-like beauty to things. And though they are smooth, they hit the flow in a snappy and pertinent way. Instrumentally, the clacky percussion takes the limelight, but then there are some string sounds that hit a riff that works well as a hook. The lyrics tell a tale of everlasting love with a sweet grace behind them.
