Use These 5 Tracks to Either Feel Your Feelings or Dance This March

It’s finally March, a time of transition, as days start to get warmer with a mix of rain and cold snaps. It’s a time to start anew, to either feel those feelings out or get out and feel the energy of the world pick up. Whatever you’re here for, you’ll find something you need in these 5 tracks!

Free Zoey – All I Know

‘All I Know’ isn’t quite emo rap, but it’s rap with a hard flow that has some emo influences in it. As a second single, it immediately shows range, toning the tempo down a bit from the first single ‘First Off,’ and switching to more poignant lyricism. That being said, there are two aspects. It’s about personal struggles including difficulties with self worth, but then it’s also about chasing one’s dreams, as in it delves into a rush forward into the world of rap.

Bird – Daddy

‘Daddy’ takes a turn from the first inclusion on this list. Rather than being rap, it’s a folk song with some orchestral influences. But, it still has a poignant tone to the lyricism. The quick guitar in this track’s intro is a perfect hook, but it holds itself with a more moderate tempo later on. Lyrically, it explores what could be considered the “family curse” in which the mistakes and shortcomings of a father who struggled in his youth affect the next part of the family line.

Michellar Ft. Christarntd – Dance to Kill

‘Dance to Kill’ is different from anything Michellar has ever released, and it’s another inclusion in her discography that proves that different collaborations can provide more new sounds. Where she works a lot with folk and indie sounds, this single provides an upbeat dancey bop with some dreamy influences. The bass has a lifelike drive, and it works well with her vocals that have a washed-out tone to them. Lyrically, it’s about pulling the listener into its spell and inviting them to dance; and that is what it does!

biz barclay. – Carried Away

‘Carried Away’ keeps up with that lifelike bounce at times, but it also works immensely with its highs and lows. The vocals in this track are loaded with emotion, but there’s also a bit of a sultry nature to it. The dynamics in this track are phenomenal, as it flows cleanly through distinct sections! It has pop idol potential, but then the slower sections give a breath of fresh air in its pacing. Lyrically, it seems to come from the place of someone who’s in a relationship with someone who gets ‘carried away,’ or bottles up what they’re going through and takes it out on the other.

Maria-Ines – Fake It Till You Make It

‘Fake It Till You Make It’ rests in the range of melancholic acoustic beauty. If these tracks were on a playlist, this would be the perfect one to wrap things up. It has an aspect of simplicity, working with beautiful vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar, and smooth and sweet vocals with a range in rhythm. This is a post breakup anthem, telling a story of someone who has left a relationship but can’t stop reaching out as they still miss this former partner.
