3 Songs in Differing Genres that Share the Beauty and Diversity of Music

Music is always becoming more beautiful and diverse, and there’s always something new around the corner. These three singles represent the genres indie folk, hip-hop, and atmospheric electronic, and all of them offer up something that may fit into your personal playlists.

Logan Metz – Sunrise

‘Sunrise’ does well at matching its title. The warm synths, raspy but bright vocals, and soft percussion sound like the sunrise. It has an aire of adventure to it, and overall, the sound builds a sense of optimism. It has a nostalgic groove and mixes electronic instrumentation with folksy influences to give everything a full beauty. At around 1:50, there’s a jazzy instrumental interlude that dashes in a great dynamic and helps keep things interesting. In general, it throws back to the psychedelic era with its experimentation. Lyrically, it’s about pushing forth toward growth and reinvention, though the speaker is unsure whether they have time to do so.

Adi Adler – Trust the Dude

‘Trust the Dude’ stands out with a lyrical drive and punchy vocals like that of NF. There’s a lot of emotion in the force of the raps, and the diversity in vocal rhythms gives a narrative adventure. That being said, the chorus, which has a repetition of the title, has an addictive quality that begs listeners to come back for more. This is a track that does well at telling its story with hooks to hang onto a catchy quality. In terms of lyrics, it seems to get into the fleeting nature of things, including people and belongings. That being said, it expresses “End of the night, mirror nods / You alone facing God.”

Dr. GO – Once upon a time

‘Once upon a time’ has a really great energy and synth pulls that builds with the percussion for a forced rush forward. The thing about it is, it breaks the boundaries of what Dr. GO normally does by including vocal bits scattered in-between. It does what he does best, gives a sense of adventure and wonder with a sound that’s almost as if it’s from the future. Additionally the way different layers of sound enter and exit provides a cinematic experience for listeners. This track has good vibes, and lyrically it captures a connection and bond with another that seems almost spiritual due to the production and delivery.
