Yo Yo Sun’s Brand New Single Paired With Two Other Releases That Explore Connection

‘Sometimes The Devil Takes You’ by Yo Yo Sun came out today, and it comes across with a unique blend of influences to tell a narrative of a struggling relationship. To celebrate, Popfad has paired it with two other strong releases. One gets into the narrative of a post break-up, and the other the connection that music can give to the soul.

Yo Yo Sun – Sometimes The Devil Takes You

With its jazzy influences, smooth rhythm, full instrumentation, and ethereal vocals, ‘Sometimes The Devil Takes You’ stands out as being unique and dreamy. In terms of its production, it finds a perfect mix between washed-out and crisp, which builds a sense of introspection while allowing the full range of sound to stand out. The piano, strings, and brass gives an orchestrated vibe, though it plays with more modern indie sounds as well. The sound may evoke deep thought as much as it builds phenomenal atmosphere with a lot of soul. Lyrically, it seems to capture the narrative of a relationship in which both parties are consumed by their negative traits which causes clash and disconnect.

Jenna Kay – bitterhalf

‘Bitterhalf’ finds a way to immediately stand out with its crisp bass and guitar production, snaps and vocals building on in layers throughout the intro. This is one of those releases that plays well with its initial build, growing suspense before the punch of the chorus. It has a pop basis with the vibes of an idol, but the rock influences add some great emotion with a tad of grit. The chorus is catchy, and which is brought out by the contrast of the softer swing in the verses. Additionally, the vocal quality is super dynamic. It’s all pulled together with a mix that does well at using stereo to bring out the full range of sound. This track serves as a break-up anthem with the spite of seeing someone move on while feeling bitter and jaded.

MADISON music – Feel It in My Soul

MADISON music has crafted addictive club energy with their track ‘Feel It in My Soul.’ The bass flow of this track offers a rush, and it pairs well with a synth wobble. Though there is a bit of a trap drum, every bit of the instrumentation gives a rhythmic quality to things. Additionally, there’s a vocal overlay that’s produced to the electric vibe and adds substance to the already good beat. It’s catchy with its repetitions of “I feel it in my soul.” Lyrically, it seems to be about feeling the music and falling into the rush of it all. It’s lifelike and sounds like it could be a hit in the party scene.
