Injecting a sense of infectious explosivity into everything that comes out of their studio, Bristol-based alt rock act Chandra continues to retain their title as one of the most indefatigable groups out there as they tirelessly create work that continues to resonate with ears around the world. With an evergrowing fanbase supporting their work and their movement at every turn, today marks another milestone for the group as they release their latest single, Boom. An energetic and thoughtfully architected track, the single showcases the deepest proclivities of the band through its tongue and cheek lyricism and disarmingly jolly instrumentation.
An upbeat and bongo-heavy percussive introduction plays to begin the record, and immediately we get a sense for the eccentric and warm ambiance that this track strives to foster. Hypnotically melodic and immediately memorable, the music’s depth quickly expands as a faint whistle rounds out the sound and prompts the narrative, as the opening line “I’m like a cold stick of dynamite, laid back and chill, but I’m likely to go boom” opens up the world of this track.
A welcome deviation from the typically upbeat and rock heavy anthems this band has been known for delivering over the last several years, Boom showcases a catchy, rhythmic sensibility with stripped down and raw instrumentation, while still featuring the group’s trademark proclivities for injecting energy and heart into everything they produce. Showcasing an elating and exciting new direction for these artists, while still serving their mission of uplifting the senses through music, the single gives fans much to be excited about.
