2 Tracks That Show The Diverse Ways Music Can Resonate With Emotions

In the search for new and independent music to share, Popfad has run into 2 songs within the last week that share different narratives, which may strike relatable emotional experiences. The first one is a tale of growth through struggle, and the other seems to tackle a narrative of a love that needs to remain hidden. Check em’ out!

King Gret – Feeling A Way

‘Feeling A Way’ is one of those hip-hop tracks where the vocals carry the strong beat and rhythm in a way that gives them a lot of focus. This track has a bit of a vague vocal mumble in King Gret’s vocals, but this mumble doesn’t pull away from the clarity in the lyrics. Then, Bonnie cuts in with her own unique rhythm and punchy vocal style. This track tells a clear narrative, and it utilizes collaboration to truly bring it to life. This track captures the feeling of the come-up. It captures the feeling of being locked in while exploring the things that had to be left behind to move forward.

Nikki Nicole – Confidential

‘Confidential’ stands out as sweet and smooth. Once again, the vocals take the forefront. That being said, this track is more in the range of smooth indie pop with some R&B influences. There are brighter synths that play in the instrumentation, reverberating around to create a distinct atmosphere. Additionally, the percussion does well at adding and pulling back on layers to control the energy. Vocally, this track astounds with some pretty strong belts intersected with soft, higher tones. Around 01:15, there’s a more rhythmic vocal section, which displays even more range. This track tells the lyrical narrative of someone in a down-low relationship with another. They yearn for time and connection with said person, but they’d rather keep it without alerting others and garnering judgment.
