Based in her home state of New Jersey, and inspired by the change she wants to see in the world, new wave Americana artist Bailey Grey sees her creative work as a life mission, a purpose, and a vehicle for inspiring those around her to create a better status quo with every opportunity. As she recognizes the world around her less and less, she takes to the studio to call out injustice as she sees it, a pastime that has resulted in her latest release, More Of Us. A lyrically motivated and deep cutting anthem, the single proves a rousing reflection of the contemporary human condition, and a call to action for those who want to see change on an enormous scale.
A fast paced acoustic guitar strums to begin the piece, followed by the centering ambiance of a resonant fiddle, and we immediately feel the world of the music being built around us in real time. As Grey’s vocals enter shortly after, we feel a complete representation of the narrative from her first few bars, beginning with the opening line “When you step outside today, do you feel scared a little bit? Are you watching people being kidnapped, wrestled down and hit?
An inspiring reflection of not only the artist’s worldview, but the change she knows we are capable of, Grey reminds us through her music that the spirit of humanity is stronger than any one regime. Calling attention to the fact that there are more who go into creating a society than the few at the top, the track serves as a powerful reminder that change can only come from the masses willing to make it happen.
