L’VON just released their track ‘God Is A DJ’ on September 25th, and it stands out as a super fun LGBTQIA+ party anthem. Additionally, there’s so much new music, fun or deep, that has come out as of late. Here are the picks that have graced the ears of Popfad curators within the last week or so!
L’VON – God Is A DJ
‘God Is A DJ’ is an exciting, rhythmically diverse, party anthem with a house basis. This track has great energy while also avoiding the feeling of being too rushed. It has a strong bounce, but instead of being rapid-fire, the bounce works along a rhythmic sway. The vocals are well produced in a way that fits into the electronic sound while still sounding human and portraying emotion. Additionally, the chorus is really addictive and begs to be chanted along with. This is one of those LGBTQIA+ indie party anthems that’s sure to light up dance floors. Lyrically, it uses religious references to express how the dance floor can feel like a holy experience of confidence.
Skyve feat. Georgia Owen – Hard Part’s Over
‘Hard Part’s Over’ somehow finds a distinct middle ground between pop, R&B, rap, and emo. The opening vocals, brought to the table by Georgia Owen, deliver a smooth melodic flow that melts and flows around beautifully. The backing piano fills out gorgeous harmonies, and the vocal layering makes them very full. Then, Skyve jumps in over the piano with a rap. It’s not mumbled, but it has a spark of melancholic emotion behind it. Then the instrumentation fades to some light synths before picking up with a reverby, synthy atmosphere with some trap drums. Overall, the instrumental evolution and back-and-forth between the vocalists give this track a constant evolution. It has a lot of beauty, but there is still a great punch. ‘Hard Part’s Over’ captures a narrative of personal growth and positive change on the other side of deep struggle.
Catlea – Someone’s Got To
‘Someone’s Got To’ moves things in the direction of singer-songwriter indie pop focused on vocals and lyricism. This track has primarily simple percussion and guitars driving it along, interspersed with parts where the guitars take on a quicker, snappier rhythmic lead. The guitar is diverse in this song, with moments of smoother strumming, fingerpicking, and some snappier strumming. Overall, it has a bit of a slow build that fades back at the right times for a stronger delivery. There’s also some violin to round out the string-based instrumentation. “Someone’s Got To” finds the perfect line between exciting and emotional, and there’s something cinematic about the full experience that it delivers. It’s about finding self-love and saving oneself when it feels like another can’t.
Alexa Kate – Does Anybody?
‘Does Anybody?’ by Alexa Kate is a synthy indie track with really nice energy and a dash of emotion. The primary synths in the verses bounce and trill along, and the way they’re produced gives them a bit of an arcade-y feel. On the other end, the bass and percussion provide a nice bounce. The vocals perfectly blend rhythm and melody to make things catchy. The chorus focuses more on the melody, and the verses hold the melody but dash in a bit more rhythm. Additionally, before an instrumental/rhythmic pickup, this track does well at pulling back for a second. In doing so, each time it rises into the powerful moments, there’s built-up anticipation. Despite the musicality of this track being lifelike and energetic, the lyrics take a route of pure feeling. It captures the feeling of being held back by one’s own mental health struggles while struggling to feel heard.
Elder Island – Pink Lemon (Tycho Remix)
The Tycho remix of Pink Lemon has a nostalgic pop sound that’s groovy, synthy, and fun. That being said, it does this with a sense of nonchalance and an underlying chill vibe. The guitars and bass have a nice slap to them through much of this track, and chimey synths cut in to add an airy underlying atmosphere in other moments. This is one of those songs that somehow delivers danceability while still giving a sense of introspection. The rhythm is captivating, and the production does well at making things clear, even with some more reverberated moments. The percussion dynamically shifts for some nice builds in sound while falling back into calmer moments cleanly. There’s something about the dynamic flow in this track that’s artsy and captivating.
Jayh feat. Medinah – WAITING 4 U – Remastered 2026
‘WAITING 4 U’ remastered takes things in a slower, more melancholic direction. With a slower tempo, cello, and percussion that fades into the background, it slowly trudges along. The vocals are produced in a washed-out style, but this production feels so purposeful throughout the track. It provides an absolutely atmospheric soundscape that tells an adventure with music alone, and the interspersed vocals build into this flow. There’s a lot of pain captured in this song, mixed with a feeling of deep thought. Lyrically, it’s about not waiting for someone else. It seems to be about letting go and moving forward, though in doing so, there’s still a lot of hurt.
Manic Year – Bless This Mess
‘Bless This Mess’ is a bit quirky, a bit fun, and a bit lo-fi. The instrumentation in this track feels a bit like an old Nintendo game with the way the synths are delivered; then, the percussion takes the forefront with its clacky rhythmic flow. It plays well with using synths as a backing to more of a pop-punk/emo genre basis. It’s a little bit experimental, and it adds and strips away different layers cleanly for a dynamic flow from start to finish. The vocals have times when they fit into the more electronic sounds, and in other moments they have a pop-punk grit with some great force behind them. ‘Bless This Mess’ is a lot of fun, but it uses that fun as a backing for vocals and lyrics that are emotionally loaded. Speaking of, the narrative of this track seems to be one of accepting one’s own messier traits while struggling to find romantic connection due to their own struggles.
