‘This Way’ has such a bright and optimistic vibe instrumentally. It has that bright indie sound that’s a blend of electric guitar and synths. On top of that, the vocals are really snappy and hit in a nice way at the start, and the rap verses round out the sound a lot. This track has a lot of influences from different genres, and it makes it unique and interesting. Lyrically, it’s a song about having a good day. But it’s more than that. It’s about cherishing those good moments, as there aren’t always enough of them.
David Tucker – Fighting Over Sheets
‘Fighting Over Sheets’ has a nice warmth in its production, and the acoustic guitar has a quick and pertinent bounce that builds a lot of energy. On top of that, the vocals are smooth and the production allows them to stand out crisply. Additionally, the backing vocal “ahh” sounds show a lot of vocal dynamics. This track is about passionate love in the bedroom. It depicts going home early to get in bed to have a good time and overall runs through a relationship that’s well-connected in that way.
Karen Jacobsen – I Was a Man
‘I Was a Man’ is a piece by the Australian voice of Siri. It features beautiful piano, soft percussion, and a gorgeous rasp in the vocals. The dynamics and energy builds give it an anthemic sound, but the softness holds a lot of emotion. On top of that, the vocals have smooth-held notes and sections where they are more percussive sounding. The lyrics go into the place of women in society. It can be hard to be a woman, and being out in the world can be scary. This track explores that idea in a poignant and chilling way.
MADNIK – Be here to love me
‘Be here to love me’ is a smooth and sweet jazzy piano track that has such a nice flow. The production style has a rawness to it, but it also holds itself smoothly. The vocals especially stand out with rawness, as they have a twang to them. They jump between being smooth and raspy, but overall they’re lifelike. Even the vibrato, or waver, sounds extremely natural. Also, the vocal dynamics allow the heavier hitting parts to hit in the ways that they should. The lyrics build into a song of deep yearning. It expresses a want to be held and loved in a deep way.
Abbie Gathard – Upside Down
‘Upside Down’ works with catchy pop melody, a quick folksy acoustic guitar instrumentation, and powerful vocals. There are several layers of guitars and an underlying bass to build the instrumentation with strings in the foreground and the drums settled softly into the background. The vocals have a higher harmony at times, and they gorgeously add to the sound. This track was written about gossip. It explores distrust of others as they control narratives and lie. This depiction of experiencing gossip-filled stories and relationships has a lot to relate to.
Attack The Sound – FADIYA
‘FADIYA has a bass opening that ushers the listener in before a soft guitar and percussion enters. It builds a dreamy soundspace to start, and the instrumental intro is a great hook. The vocals then cut in with a smooth soul-filled tone. They’re soft overall but also jump into some belts and nice riffs. At around 2:05 a trumpet trumpet and trombone take the spotlight, and they add a lot of atmosphere. This track is about self-conviction over being in the military. It goes into fears of others not sticking around when away and the moral dilemma of joining the service. Its lyrics are extremely deep and give a lot to ponder.
