This track meshes western sounds with pop harmonies and clacky percussion with a smooth flow. The chorus is super catchy, and vocals are full and drive the track along well. ‘Movin Up – Main Mix’ is a dynamic synthy EDM track with great control. It has an optimistic presence and groove to it, and the way energy rises toward its hits does well at pulling attention to the track. The vocals have a smoothness to them that’s dashed with more than enough soul to spare. There’s a lot of power here, and its beat is absolutely infectious. The lyrics explore the thrill of dancing, the come-up, and connection with others. They beg to be taken higher, and the lyrical areas expressing this fit well with the raises in energy.
Nothing Like Robots – all / natural
‘all / natural’ is an electronic indie pop track with a soft production style that ties everything together cohesively. The synths have a bounce to them that meshes with the percussion well, and this is mixed with stereo panning. The mix of this bounce and panning creates a sound that’s equal parts introspective and exciting. The bass leads the percussion, and the guitar and other synths cut in to round things out with brighter tones. The chorus has a lot of repeatability, and it overall explores love for another, the main hook being “Baby, you’re my star in the sky.”
ROTUNES – Falling Apart
“Falling Apart” has a nice and bright instrumental and sweet vocals. The harmonies are beautifully crafted, and the synths rest softly in the instrumentation with a soft bass bump and some hi-hats taking the stage in the percussion. There’s something starry about the way the synths build the instrumentation. Also, there’s something that sounds natural about this track even when it is electronic. The lyrics explore what it’s like being in love but having things not spark right. It explores feelings of being stuck on an idea of someone but still feeling lonely and falling to pieces because of their facade.
Scott AF – Music & Magic
“Music & Magic” works with darker synths, some smooth but pertinent sax, and vocals with some soul. Additionally, these vocals work well in moments of softness and power, however, the track is paced moderately overall. The sax cuts in at the right times, and the buzzy warmth brings things to life well. The melody is catchy, and the light jazz influences fit into the electronic pop basis like a puzzle piece. The lyrics paint lifelike pictures and tell a tale of love, sharing that though one may age with a lover, one can still, “Believe in the beauty in the music and the magic.”
Jody Lynn – In Control
“In Control” is another bass-heavy pop track, but it’s done in a different way from other tracks included on this list. There’s a powerful punch in the vocals, though they primarily work with a buzzy bright tone. The quick bass hits move things forward with force, and the drum hits that build from them add a punchiness. Jody works with some metal influences, and though this mainly has a pop basis, you can tell with the power in her vocals. Also, there is a rap portion that cuts in at around 02:15, which gives an even more dynamic genre range. The lyrics play well with the title. This track is about being in control of one’s own life and not letting another take that.
