Illuminated /// Tyrone Marshall

Tyrone Marshall is freshly back on the scene after stepping away in 2017, but his new single ‘Illuminated’ will make you feel like you took a time machine back to the 70s.

‘Illuminated’ captures a sound that’s nothing short of nostalgic in both production style and musicianship. Its base genre rests in the range of glam rock, and it provides something fresh for anyone who grew up listening to said genre. This track works with a high energy that is pushed forward by quick piano hits intricately complimented with brass, a bass that blends a slap and growl, electric guitars, and more in its full sound. Marshall himself recorded the vocals and basic guitar, and he garnered the talent of his friend Chris Maule with the rest of the instrumentation. The vocals work with a fullness that has a vague rasp, and it plays well with quick and bendy note transitions. The lyrics use poeticism to explore the elevation of the mind and the soul by finding the illumination of the self, “Don’t need the sun don’t need the moon / to be illuminated,” the chorus rings out. It lyrically suggests that light comes within and that once that light is found it’s obvious that it’s there.

Tyrone Marshall is an Aberdare, Wales-based rock artist who takes influence from decades past. He works with melodies and sounds that can send listeners straight back in time and has been making music for four decades. Aside from his personal work, he is also currently performing on a cruise in a Beatles cover band. ‘Illuminated’ was meant to be influenced by the works of T.Rec, Elton John, and John Lennon, all produced with a sound that’s authentically 70’s. In that, he succeeded and created a bright and optimistic piece at that. Let’s see where his keen ear for influence will take his discography moving forward!
