Promise Me /// Cat Cork

Promise you’ll listen to Cat Cork’s new song ‘Promise Me’!

‘Promise Me’ is an acoustic ballad-sounding folk track with a full band sound. The one way to describe the sound of this, it would be raw. The buzz of the guitar stands out well, the percussion is built primarily off of simple shakers, and the cello is a great inclusion. This has that full-band folk sound that offers a nostalgic rush to listeners. The vocals also fit nostalgic folk sounds, as they take on a sweet and breathy tone. Overall, the sound is here to wrap people up in its warmth. Lyrically, this is a tale of love and connection. It explores survival and the idea of a promise to keep the self safe for another. “Floods and fears haven’t got a hope / We’ll survive everything they wrote everything they wrote,” the chorus expresses. Instead of running, it suggests sticking the struggles through out of a place of love and connection.

Woy Woy, Australia-based musician Cat Cork is stepping from darker emotional tracks into more optimism and positivity. Released at the end of 2024, ‘Promise Me’ is set to move things in this more lighthearted direction through 2025. This track benefitted from collaboration around the world with help from Cameron Taylor and several musicians from Musiversal. It was written with the intent of giving nostalgia and positivity to listeners. The world needs some more positivity right now, so it’s a breath of fresh air to see an artist moving in that direction.
