Go back in time and start anew at the same time with ‘Back in the Race’ by Initial Trip, released 01/15/2025!

‘Back in the Race’ is an introspective 80s-inspired indie track with a dreamy atmosphere. The 80s inspiration comes in with much of the instrumentation and guitars, the synths filling up the atmosphere with beauty. The bass has a nice slap to it, and it plays surprisingly well with a scratchy guitar. Additionally, the vocals have a bit of an anthemic nature. Though this track does have nostalgic influences, it has a dreaminess to it that gives just a bit of an indie sound. The main vocal hook of this track is, “Now I’m back in the race,” and the lyrics seem to build themselves upon this lyric in a conceptual way. It seems to be about putting things behind, finding clarity, and getting taking a breather. Then, it delves into a narrative about starting fresh to find success.
