4 Tracks With Diverse Sounds to Explore

These 4 new releases are here to give a range of sounds to a diverse range of listeners. Whether you’re into that emo sound, modern show tunes, electronic pop, or emotional folk, there’s something here for you.

501deadroses – Vibe

‘Vibe’ has a bit of an emo rap vibe with its lo-fi beat and light mumble in the vocals. Though the vocals have a bit of a mumble, they’re delivered with enough clarity to understand, and the production gives them a bit of a punchiness. Additionally, they have a really great flow with a bit of a bounce, and the chorus stands out as catchy and full of life.  Lyrically, it captures connection and love mixed with physical passion. “If I’m gone you’ll miss me / you can feel it in my vibe,” is one of those lyrics that stands out as a great hook!

Ben Durkin – Paint The Walls

‘Paint The Walls’ is actually a track out of an upcoming musical called “Burke & Hare”. Though it definitely has a theatre basis, which can be heard most in the vocals, its orchestrated pop sound also helps it stand out on its own! From start to finish, it’s dynamic, and the vocals have a lot of power and bend and flow gorgeously. Also, there’s a key change that hits just right!  It seems to compare love to a house, and how it’s like a carefully molded building though unplanned. However, there’s poeticism in the way it relates painting the wall to heartbreak and ashes.

Dr. GO – Found

‘Found’ is an electronic pop track that works with powerful instrumentation and soft vocals. There’s something about the dichotomy of the energy in the instrumentation and breathiness of the vocals that gives both energy and atmosphere. The mix in this track makes the instrumentation seem to float around in the air, which adds to the experience a lot. The lyrics seem to poetically capture a story of having to walk away from a former lover and then feeling stuck in a sort of limbo.

Johnny Cutt – Better

‘Better’ is a pop and folk-based track with some country influences and loads of emotion. The vocals are beautiful, and their production helps them pop tons. The moderate pace of the track allows an introspective vibe to stand out even with a full band sound. Additionally, the the guitar works well with some bendy synths, and overall it fills the soundspace well. The lyrics seem to go over a tale of making mistakes in a relationship. It’s about heartbreak, but it comes from the standpoint of the person who’s broken the heart of another.
