These two tracks both have completely different vibes with folk influences in a way that shows the variety of the genre. If you listen to both, it can pull you through a narrative that explores love and heartbreak.
Tyler Herwig – Like That Kiss
‘Like That Kiss’ meshes a moderate tempo, clean vocals, stellar production, and a dynamic instrumental flow to create a sound that’s truly heartfelt. It has a nice sway to it, and the guitars give an electronic sound with a pluck that gives it a raw folk feel. There’s a great melody to the overall track which does well at pulling the listener into its lovey emotion. The lyrics capture the story of a first kiss, and the warm, optimistic sound lends to the magic of its narrative.
Joseph the Worker – Molly Mayhem
Molly Mayhem features a raw, buzzy acoustic guitar and a bright vocal delivered with a soft emotional swing. This is a folk track that takes on a melancholic, slow-tempoed flow with a drawn-out breathiness to the vocals and an introspective flow. It introduces percussion and some darker synths as it moves along, filling the sound but keeping the core of how the track feels. And there’s a lot of depth to that feeling with the instrumentation alone! It tells the story of a person getting out of a relationship with a toxic and obsessive person, leaving the door closed as this person knocks while still acknowledging the love that was there.
