Cheers /// Elektric Animals

Denver, Colorado based indie rock band, Elektric Animals, offers up a collective toast with their latest single, “Cheers.” Rumbling along, this track emits shockwaves that amp up the emotional energy with each rendition of cheers. “Cheers” marches along to its heavy melody to produce a raucous tribute.

“Sometimes my eyes water like flowing wine,” is the opening line sung by lead singer Nick Sanders. From the start, it jumps right into the heavy, emotional deep end. This is accentuated by the explosive guitar and drum pairing that dominate this track. Especially, every time the chorus of “cheers” hits. Spot on with each “cheers,” this combination exclaims its presence with resounding authority.

On this track, it collectively raises a glass to “the years we cannot remember…the ones we lost along the way…the ones who will not see tomorrow.” Each rendition of this toast wraps up with a resolute “We are. We are alive! And we won’t apologize!” Simultaneously, this song looks backwards while, ultimately, remaining hopeful for the future.

While it is retrospective in tone, “Cheers” is also celebratory, too. Towards the track’s conclusion, a relief from the processional drum beat comes in the form of sharper guitar riffs that lift the melody to joyous heights. Fittingly enough, an applause driven send off capitalizes on the upbeat overtone.

“Cheers” is a fun, emotionally driven track that consistently brings the energy. Elektric Animals give it their all from beginning to end.
