“Keeping My Number” is the new single by Render Ghosts, an Alternative Pop trio of European artists from a variety of backgrounds.
Render Ghosts is a group made up of three individuals: Tamara van Esch, Tom O C Wilson, and Iain Chambers. Tamara is on lead vocals, Tom on keyboard, and Iain on percussion. But of course the song is a true collaboration between the three of them, so there could be some overlap with the songwriting. They describe their music as such on their bandcamp, “make soaring, kinetic tunes that take synth pop into the 21st century.”
This Alternative Pop song has a lead keyboard part and vocals that are catchy. The drum beat sounds like a variation of an 808 drum. The lyrics discuss making the best of a difficult situation, or establishing some kind of connection with a different person. Tamara and Tom write the lyrics together, which makes that part of their work an interesting collaboration as well. These lyrics focus on flaws in humans relationships in the digital era.
They have released two songs on Spotify to date. Here is their description of their band on their website:
“This is the first coming together of three musicians who individually make wildly different music — A singer-songwriter who until now has sung in Dutch, a classically-trained composer of chamber pop masterpieces, and a sound artist who uses buildings like Tower Bridge as instruments.”
Render Ghosts is a name to remember in the future for a potential new album, or more future singles.
