“Lost My Job/Time is Right” is the new double A side single by band The Fades. The Fades are a London based Punk Rock band. Dave and James Lightfoot are two brothers that are featured in the band. Other members include Jonny Barnard and Alastair “Flash” Thorpe. Barnard and Dave Lightfoot are on guitar, with Dave being lead vocals as well. James is on bass guitar, and Thorpe is on drums.
These two songs are aggressive in their sound and tempo. The fast pace of the music is a signature of punk music, and The Fades carry on that aspect in their music.
“Lost My Job” focuses on the stress that financial trouble can cause. The lyrics describe the work and struggle to make ends meet, through whatever method possible. Having a job is typically how someone supports themselves or their family, but as the song title says, they lost their job. So now what? “You’re stressing out, but what have you been doing all day? Please help me out, we’ve got to find alternative ways. Ebay,” he sings. They have resorted to selling items on Ebay, to try to support themselves.
“Time is Right” is the second single of this double A release. It is instrumental, and sounds like a short jam track. The punk style is still prevalent, but with more expressive guitar parts. There is a vocal part, but no words are sung, just a sustained melody overtop the guitars.
